Systems and Applications Development

Systems and Applications Development is responsible for the development, procurement, and maintenance of all software applications required to support the County's operations. The systems include those purchased from outside vendors as well as custom systems written by Systems Development personnel. Currently supported systems include those in support of financial operations, tax collection, water and sewer billing, building inspections, licensing and permits, purchasing, planning and zoning tracking, public safety, and dozens more.

This division also supports the development and maintenance of the Howard County public web site through the administration of a Content Management system that allows each county office and department to independently maintain their own web pages.

The office is currently pursuing the development of new systems development and acquisition that use web-based deployment technologies. These systems are being implemented in both the County's Intranet and are being deployed to the Internet where appropriate.test
