P.A.D.D.D.

The Positive Alternatives to Dangerous and Destructive Decisions (PADDD) Program was started in 1997 by two Shock Trauma nurses who had experience in prevention programs. Their mission was to provide the best “impaired and reckless driving prevention” classes with the sole intent of preventing trauma. The program utilizes local speakers and is a collaboration of the medical field, the funeral services industry, recovered trauma patients, offenders, law enforcement and Emergency Medical Services personnel.

The Sheriff’s Office monitors court ordered attendance to the P.A.D.D.D. Program through the Community Service Section offices, located at 9250 Bendix Road in Columbia, Maryland. Registration for the P.A.D.D.D. Program must be done in person at the Community Service Section offices.

The P.A.D.D.D. Program offers one of the most comprehensive prevention programs in the state of Maryland and brings together the best speakers in the prevention industry to complete its mission of preventing impaired and reckless driving.

TRIAD

TRIAD consist of a three-way effort among the Sheriff’s Office, Howard County Department of Police and the Maryland State Police who have agreed to work together to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens, and to enhance law enforcement services to this population. The program focuses on reducing unwarranted fear of crime and improving the quality of life for seniors.

Through the TRIAD program, the Sheriff’s Office also offers free cellular phones to seniors for the purpose of unrestricted 911 emergency use.
