Environmental and sustainability work in Howard County involves nearly all of our County departments, especially Office of Environmental Sustainability, Planning and Zoning, Public Works, Recreation and Parks, and Economic Development. The County aims to lead by example and challenges citizens to embrace environmental stewardship and sustainability.  

The County's Environmental Sustainability initiatives follow the triple bottom line approach – all of our work aims to protect Howard County's environment, save money and protect the health and welfare of all Howard County citizens.
