The senior adult programs section offers a diverse, quality program schedule including health and wellness, arts and crafts, bridge and dance classes, seasonal socials and trips and tours for adults age 55-up and their friends and family age 18-up unless otherwise stated. For a complete description of our programs and trips, see the Recreation and Parks brochure or view online, set to an Age 55-up Category. Advance registration is required for most programs and all trips.

Classes and Workshops

Our classes and workshops are great for boosting your morale, motivation, enthusiasm and overall wellbeing.

Programs offered include Laughter Club, Laughter the Best Medicine and Boosting Your Brain.

Creative Arts and Crafts

You can learn how to do calligraphy, watercolor, drawing and painting, and artful journaling. Make jewelry, learn how to knit and so much more. Our classes will foster your imagination and creativity.

Dance

Don’t sit on the sidelines and watch everyone else have all the fun. Join them! And don't worry, our classes are designed for all levels of experience from beginner to advanced. Try out country and urban line-dancing. If you'd like to experience couples dancing, visit our Adult Programs page for information about classes.

Trips and Tours

On a trip to AshvilleTrips and excursions are very popular activities! Offerings may include day trips to local museums, historical sites, performances, restaurants or to an out-of-town location of special interest.

Our SEATS (Senior Entertainment and Arts Ticket Service) Program features artistic events such as opera, ballet, art, concerts and theatre performances.

  • Because many trips fill quickly, early registration is advised. Pick-up points depend on the number of registrants for each location. The Bain Center, Columbia or Normandy Shopping Center, Ellicott City. Additional pick-up sites may be added as needed.
  • Times indicated are approximate. Cards will be mailed about one week before each trip to confirm departure time and location.
  • Transportation is by motor coach, minibus or van, depending upon the number of registrants. An accessible vehicle is available upon early request.
  • Trips are planned for adults age 60-up and family and friends age 18-up.
  • All trip fees are per person.
  • In addition to a $5 administrative fee applied to refund requests, other expenses associated with a trip (for tickets, meals, accommodations, etc.) may be deducted. Theater tickets are non-refundable unless we can fill your spot on the roster.
