The Adult Programs section offers a wide variety of classes in arts, cooking, crafts, dance, lifestyles and learning, and trips and tours for those age 18 and up.

The Arts

Classes include drawing and painting, music, and photography. Advance registration is required. To view classes online, set the Category to Adult Arts.

Cooking

Classes include Cake Decorating; Appetizers Beverages, and Desserts; International Cuisine; and Specialty Classes. To view classes online, set the Category to Adults Cooking.






  • Classes are for age 18-up; for safety reasons, infants and children are not allowed to attend cooking classes unless otherwise noted.
  • Many cooking classes include a generous amount of tasting. Please eat lightly, or not at all, before classes in which meals or filling foods are being prepared and served.
  • There are no prerequisites for cooking class.
  • Instructors' techniques vary between hands-on, demonstration only, and a combination of both.
  • Please be courteous and pay the materials fee promptly upon arrival at class; instructors purchase food and other supplies in advance.

Crafts

Classes include fresh floral designs, glass painting, jewelry making, crochet, knitting, scrapbooking, sewing and quilting. To view classes online, set the Category to Adult Crafts.

Dance

Classes include African dance, ballet, ballroom, east coast swing, dance fitness, hand dancing, hip-hop, jazz, line dance, Latin dance, smooth social dancing, and tap. To view classes online, set the Category to Adult Dance.

Classes include bicycle repair and maintenance, home organization and repairs, dog obedience, financial fitness for women, interior design and so much more!

Trips and Tours

Each season we offer exciting trips and tours including Broadway shows, photography outings, local history tours, and day trips to regional sites. To view this season's offering online, set the Category to Adult Trips & Tours.

  • Trips are for age 18-up unless noted otherwise.
  • Participants under age 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
  • For more information, contact Stephanie Haas 410-313-4634.
  • Sat. and Sun. trips leave from the George Howard Building, Ellicott City. Weekday trips leave from the Columbia Mall near the Sears Auto parking lot. Buses depart promptly. Return times may vary.
  • Inclement weather: If a weather emergency plan is in effect in Howard County, the trip is canceled. Call 410-313-4452 before departure.
  • Registration is required in advance. Confirmation of your trip reservation will be mailed. A trip with insufficient registration will be canceled.
  • In addition to a $5 administrative fee applied to refund requests, expenses associated with a trip (tickets, snacks, meals, accommodations, etc.) may be deducted. Theatre tickets are non-refundable unless we can fill your spot on the roster.
  • No refunds for overnight trips after the full payment date unless the trip is canceled or we can fill your spot on the roster.
  • Walking is essential on most trips. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing.
  • Transportation is by deluxe motor coach unless otherwise indicated. Smoking is not allowed on the bus.
  • Adults with mobility impairments may call 410-313-4628 about accessible transportation.
  • We make every effort to accommodate persons with disabilities. Due to the historic nature of some sites, wheelchair access is not always available. If you have a particular concern, please contact us. We can advise you of each trip's physical requirements.
