ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE ADVISORY BOARD
Function:
To review services and need for services relating to alcohol or drug abuse education, treatment, and prevention.
Number of Members:
23 Eleven Ex-officio; (Health Officer or Health Officer’s designee, Chief of Police or the Chief’s designee, Superintendent of Education or the Superintendent’s designee, the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court (Fifth Judicial Circuit) or the Judge’s designee, the State’s Attorney or the State’s Attorney’s designee, the President of the Howard County Student Government or the President’s designee, the Administrative Judge of the District Court (10th Judicial District) or the Judge’s designee, the Director of the local Department of Social Services or the Director’s designee, the Regional Director of the Department of Juvenile Services or the Director’s designee, the Regional Director of the Department of Parole and Probation or the Director’s designee, and the District Public Defender for the 10th Judicial District or the District Public Defender’s designee). Twelve members appointed by the County Executive; (Seven members shall represent the general public and shall not be providers of substance abuse education, treatment or prevention services to Howard County residents, three members shall represent providers of substance abuse education, treatment or prevention, one members shall be a representative of a college or university in the County, and one member shall represent an advocacy group which addresses issues relating to alcohol and/or drug abuse).
