Transition Team Report

County Executive Ken Ulman named a nine member Transition Team Steering Committee to help him evaluate report their findings to him. Chairman Guy Guzzone assigned each member of the transition team to one of nine subcommittees. The subcommittees, which were chaired by the assigned Steering Committee member, are as follows:

Economic Development : Mukesh Majmudar
Education: Patti Caplan
Planning & Zoning / Housing : Vernon Gray
Public Safety : Tim McCrone
Public Works / Inspections, Licenses & Permits : Maurice Simpkins
Recreation & Parks : Jean Parker
Technology / Finance : Mary Ellen Duncan

The final report is based on the group’s two month assessment of Howard County Government’s departments and agencies. During the assessment, subcommittees met with department heads and their staffs to learn more about the operational and organizational strengths, challenges and opportunities in each department. The Transition Team also gave the public opportunities to express their thoughts and concerns in a public meeting and through e-mail testimony.
