Police Officer Certified

The Police Officer Certified is for all certified Police officers who work for a full service department and have two years or more experience. Police Officer Certified attend a four week comparitive compliance training at the Howard County Police Department's Education and Training Division Facility. Howard County Police seek ambitious certified Police Officers who want to be a part of one of the most progressive and nationally accredited and community oriented police departments in the nation.

A comprehensive flexible benefits package and a competitive pension plan is included:

  • 20 years of service-50%
  • 25 years of service-75%
  • 30 years of service-80%
  • 8.3% night shift differential
  • Three hour minimum O/T pay for off-duty court appearances
  • Specialty pay for certain assignments
  • Take home vehicles for in-county residents (When available)
  • Career development programs:Police Officer First Class / Corporal.

Qualifications

For consideration, candidates must certified as a Police Officer and two years of experience in a full service police department.

Successful candidates must pass a polygraph examination; a comprehensive background investigation; and psychological and pre-placement physical evaluations.
