Police Officer of the Month

May 2006

Chief McMahon, in his first POM selection, has chosen PFC Andrew Lloyd for Police officer of the Month for May. Remarkably, PFC Lloyd was nominated three months in a row for his consistent productivity and performance working the Ellicott City area.

During this month, Lloyd developed nine insight incidents, responded to an additional 52 calls for service and wrote 53 traffic related citations. This superfluity of activity was all accomplished in 10 days; averaging about one insight, plus over 5 traffic stops and calls per shift.

Lloyd’s performance in May netted 13 arrests, two of which were the result of a stolen auto apprehension and one from utilizing a K9 for a drug scan during a routine stop. Demonstrating consistency with community policing, Lloyd also took the time to assure concerned citizens when he removed a trapped raccoon from a dumpster; taking the time to abate a quality of life call that reassured residents in a non-perfunctory manner.

Officer Lloyd performance this year has earned him a total of four nominations for this award; his supervisors recognize a fervent attitude that never wanes and motivates his coworkers and peers.
