Police Officer of the Month March 2006 Chief Livesay is proud to announce Cpl. Matt Tanis as the Police officer of the Month for March. Remarkably, March was Cpl. Tanis’ return to the Patrol Division after serving over 8 years as an investigator the Criminal Investigative Bureau. During a time when most members require some period of adjustment, Cpl. Tanis led his squad in platoon in a myriad of ways.
The apex of Cpl Tanis’ work was evident from his traffic contacts. Averaging over 12 traffic stops a shift, Tanis was able to increase road safety throughout the County by netting 10 DUI arrests in just 16 days and led the platoon with 193 citations. Tanis made an additional 7 criminal arrests during this period. Evidence of his proactive policing was demonstrated in his insight reports, which accounted for a third of the reports he filed in March.
During this time Cpl. Tanis also served as the squad supervisor in the absence of his sergeant and motivated his fellow officers from the front, as well as setting a fine example as a beat officer. His motivation and dedication went beyond his regular duties as he made himself available to teach the Rape & Sexual Assault class for our current recruits.
Congratulations to Cpl. Matt Tanis for a fantastic return to the Patrol Division! |
