Police Officer of the Month August 2005 Chief Livesay has selected Officer Clate Moton-Jackson as Officer of the Month for August 2005. Officer Moton-Jackson was selected because of his dedication to traffic enforcement and high productivity. Since the Chief spoke of his focus on increased traffic enforcement earlier in the year, Officer Moton-Jackson has taken the message to heart. During August, Officer Moton-Jackson made more than 108 traffic stops for people violating Howard County’s traffic laws. Additionally, in those 108 traffic contacts, Officer Moton-Jackson made nine arrests for driving on a suspended license. Officer Moton-Jackson’s investigation into one of those suspended drivers also revealed that the subject was wanted in Baltimore City on charges for distribution of cocaine. Officer Moton-Jackson not only focuses on traffic enforcement, but also on the criminal activity occurring in his beat area. He made six additional arrests throughout August, including arrests for first degree assault, indecent exposure and theft. While Officer Moton-Jackson is being awarded as the Officer of the Month for August, the award is also for his consistent hard work over the past year. His supervisor, Sgt. Paul Yodzis, commented that he averages 10 arrests per month and has been a “Top Cop” in Southern District for six out of the last eight months. Lt. Roland Denton noted in Moton-Jackson’s nomination that, “He has a tremendous work ethic and...is one of the highest producers on the platoon.” |
