Howard County Seniors Can Learn How to Make Their Voices Heard in Annapolis

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County’s Commission on Aging will partner with the Maryland Commission on Aging and the County’s Office on Aging to present a “Make Your Voice Heard” seminar on Wednesday, October 7 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Gateway Center, 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive in Columbia. The seminar will teach seniors:

  • how to be better advocates for the vital programs and services that are important to their quality of life
  • how to make their voices heard in Annapolis
  • about the state budget process
  • when and how to contact state legislators

Presenters will be Michele Douglas, who has over 20 years of experience in the field of advocacy; Ann Ciekot, who has worked in the field of advocacy since 1989; and Michael Lachance, who currently serves as the Maryland Department of Aging’s Legislative Liaison.
