NEWS RELEASE December 30, 2008 Media Contacts: Kevin Enright, Director, Office of Public Information, (410) 313-2022A “purple haze” falls over county offices Howard County Joins Region in a “Glowing” Show of Support for Baltimore Ravens’ Playoff Hopes ELLICOTT CITY, MD – County Executive Ken Ulman today announced that Howard County will again demonstrate its enthusiasm and support of the Baltimore Ravens’ by casting a purple glow on the new temporary government headquarters tonight on Stanford Boulevard and the Gateway Building on Columbia Gateway Drive. “Howard County wants the Ravens and all of their fans to know that purple passion doesn’t stop at the Baltimore City border,” said Ulman. “I know that Baltimore Mayor Dixon is lighting up Baltimore, and we wanted to make sure the purple haze extends into Howard County.” Ulman, a loyal Ravens fan who knows that not all county residents cheer for his favorite team, showed his sense of “fair play” by casting a burgundy and gold glow on county office buildings when our other regional team, the Washington Redskins, made their playoff run last year. The nightly purple display will continue as long as the Ravens are in the running for Super Bowl XLIII. The Redskins burgundy and gold display will remain in storage and be dusted off as needed. |
