The first in the series of lectures will be presented on Wednesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. at the Library’s Central Branch in Columbia by Ed McMahon, nationally recognized as an inspiring and thought provoking speaker and leading authority on topics related to sustainable development, land conservation, smart growth, and historic preservation. McMahon holds the Charles E. Fraser Chair on Sustainable Development at the Urban Land Institute in Washington, DC. He will speak about sustainable ways to accommodate growth and improve quality of life through walkable and compact mixed-use developments.
