NEWS RELEASE July 18, 2008 Media Contacts: Kevin Enright, Director, Office of Public Information, 410-313-2022Carl Balser, Chief, Division of Transportation Planning (DPZ) 410- 313-2350 Howard County Releases Preliminary Transit Recommendations ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Ken Ulman today released a consultant report outlining preliminary recommendations for upgrading and expanding the County’s local bus service Howard Transit. “This service has accommodated tremendous growth and will soon reach a new benchmark of one million riders per year,” said County Executive Ken Ulman. “It’s appropriate that we now step back and assess the most effective strategies for guiding future growth that best meets the needs of our citizens.” The report will be presented by the consultant, KFH Group, at a meeting of the County’s Public Transportation Board (PTB) on Tuesday July 22, 2008 at 7:00pm in the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City. The report is available electronically on the County’s website at www.howardcountymd.gov. Hard copies will also be available for review by the close of business today at all County libraries and senior centers as well as the front counter of the Department of Planning and Zoning. Following the PTB meeting, the public will have sixty days in which to comment on the draft recommendations prior to preparation of a final report. |
