NEWS RELEASE April 15, 2008 Media Contact: Kevin Enright, Director, Office of Public Information, 410-313-2022Both companies traveled with Ulman to India in February Ulman Welcomes Two International Technology Company Headquarters to the County ELLICOTT CITY, MD – County Executive Ken Ulman today announced that two major technology companies will have their international headquarters in Howard County -- Intercontinental Export Import, Inc. (IEI), a leader in environmental solutions, and Prism Microsystems, an internationally successful company which provides security monitoring and management of critical IT infrastructure. Both IEI and Prism will be headquartered in the same building at 8815 Centre Park Drive in Columbia. Representatives from both companies recently accompanied Executive Ulman on his economic development mission to Bangalore, India. “Today’s announcements are more proof that the business community sees what so many of us who live here see every day---Howard County is a wonderful place to live AND an excellent location for business,” said Ulman. “Our quality of life, our educated workforce, and our business climate create the perfect climate for economic development.” Intercontinental Export Import presently has 12 facilities located in the United States, two facilities in Canada, and one each in Mexico, India, and China. Dr. Saurabh Naik, Chief Executive Officer of IEI, is a Howard County resident who believes everyone will benefit from this announcement. “We expect an unprecedented growth of IEI in the coming years; and since the next generation in my family is active in this business, I want to watch that growth in our home base in Howard County.” IEI is planning to add 50 jobs in the next 12 months. Prism Microsystems was looking for a larger facility to accommodate its growing operations due in part to the tremendous success of its security information and event management (SIEM) solution, EventTracker. More than 650 global companies in 50 countries rely on EventTracker to detect security vulnerabilities using SIEM solutions. “We looked all around the region for a new headquarters,” said A.N. Ananth, CEO of Prism Microsystems. “We chose to remain in Howard County due to its excellent infrastructure, and highly talented workforce.” County Executive Ulman has also announced a new Howard County-India Trade Committee which will promote increased cross-investment between the County and India, while providing firsthand market information and business contacts to businesses looking for opportunities in both locations. |
