County Seeks Nominations for Excellence in Programs for Children

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Do you know any people or programs that make a positive impact on the lives of children? Plan to nominate them for recognition at the ninth annual “Celebrating Successes for Children” ceremony hosted by County Executive Ken Ulman and the Howard County Office of Children’s Services. The ceremony salutes mentors, child care providers, Scout leaders, coaches, human service workers, volunteers, businesses, school or camp programs in the categories of Infants and Toddlers (0-2 years), Pre-school (2-5 years), Kindergarten through 5th Graders, 6th through 12th Graders and Mixed Age Group. Nominations are due by Friday, March 28, 2008.

“This ceremony allows us to celebrate all of the programs and individuals who are so committed to the development and well being of children,” said County Executive Ulman. “It’s always great to thank those who are dedicated to helping our youngest citizens prepare themselves for a greater and better tomorrow.”

Nomination forms are available on line at www.howardcountymd.gov, by e-mail from pkung@howardcountymd.gov or by calling the Office of Children’s Services at 410-313-1940 to have one mailed to you. All nominations must be e-mailed, faxed (410-313-1430), delivered or postmarked to the address on the nomination form on or before the deadline of Friday, March 28.

Nominees will be recognized during the Month of the Young Child at the county’s annual “Celebrating Successes for Children” Ceremony on Tuesday, April 29. A sign language interpreter is available by calling the Department of Citizen Services, TTY 410-313-6401, at least seven business days prior to the program.
