Police Cycling Team Honors Fallen Heroes
A group of 27 Howard County Police Dept personnel, led by Chief Bill McMahon, participated in the Police Unity Tour last week, a 275-mile bike ride to raise awareness for police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. This year’s route brought through Historic Ellicott City and included a stop at Police headquarters for a brief ceremony. I want to thank our Howard County team and congratulate them on raising over $60,000 for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. To see photos, click here.

Since receiving $72 million in federal stimulus funding to manage the Inter-County Broadband Network (ICBN) in 2010, Howard County has been leading the effort to propel the state of Maryland to be a premier economic and technological hub throughout the 21st century. ICBN will directly connect thousands of community anchor institutions across the state, save taxpayers $28 million annually, and provide economic development throughout Maryland.
