MATERNITY SERVICES

Howard County Health Department provides pregnancy related medical care before and soon after the birth of a baby that includes physical examinations, medical care and laboratory tests.

Who Is Eligible?

Uninsured pregnant and post-partum women living in Howard County. Fees are based on a sliding fee scale. No one is turned away for the inability to pay. Women under the age of 18 do not need parental consent for pregnancy (prenatal) care.

Services:

  • Pregnancy Testing.
  • Physical Examination.
  • Nutritional Counseling.
  • WIC
  • Laboratory Services.
  • Healthy Start Case Management and home visiting.
  • Medical Social Work and assistance with referrals to other agencies.
  • Maryland Children’s Health Insurance eligibility and enrollment, a program that provides free health insurance to pregnant women and children with moderate to low incomes.
  • Stop Smoking Classes.
  • Interpreters are available for clients who speak Spanish and other languages.
