• To have a contract presented, application considered, income evaluated, and interest and fee charged the same as other persons.
• To take possession of, move into, and peacefully live in the residence of your choice.
• To make at your expense reasonable modifications – such as a grab bar – to make your apartment more accessible.
• You should not ask or be shown homes selected because of the racial, religious, or ethnic characteristics of the area.

Your Responsibility When You Rent or Sell to Others
• You must make the house being rented or sold available to all persons.
• The rent or sale conditions must be the same for all persons.
• It is illegal in Howard County to discriminate based on a person's source of income. This means that landlords cannot refuse to accept Section 8 Vouchers from otherwise qualified persons.
When You Advertise
• No reference should be made to an occupant's race, religion, sex, age, occupation, sexual orientation, source of income, or any other discriminatory bases.
