Student Member Wanted for Recreation & Parks Advisory Board
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Howard County Executive Ken Ulman is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving as the Student Board Member on the Recreation & Parks Advisory Board. The Board is comprised of nine voting members who serve five year terms and one student, non-voting member, who serves a one-year term from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.
The Advisory Board provides recommendations related to plans, policies and programs for public recreation and reviews plans for and hold hearings on the acquisition and development of land for public recreation and open space.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be Howard County residents, under the age of 18 years old, have an interest in recreation and parks, and be able to attend the Board’s meetings which are held approximately once a month throughout the year beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Department of Recreation and Parks Headquarters, 7120 Oakland Mills Road in Columbia.
Applicants should send a resume and a brief letter explaining why they want to serve on the Board to: Howard County Government, Department of County Administration, Attn: Susan Smith-Bauk, 3430 Courthouse Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21043. The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the County Executive for approval and then to the County Council for confirmation.
