ALPHA RIDGE LANDFILL REFUSE AREA
AT THE RESIDENTS' CONVENIENCE CENTER

RESIDENTIAL TRASH is accepted

Howard County residents may dispose of UNLIMITED QUANTITIES OF HOUSEHOLD TRASH with a valid driver license. See MORE DETAILS in ALPHA RIDGE LANDFILL SECTION. Residents disposing of unusually large quantities of household trash using a greater than 3/4 ton vehicle, or disposing of waste for someone else, may be required to obtain a SPECIAL EXCEPTION PERMIT.

Residents disposing of construction, demolition, and home improvement waste will be charged the commercial tip fee ($65/ton). This includes deliveries mixed with household waste.

Place non-recyclable trash items, such as the following, in designated TRASH CONTAINERS:

Upholstered furniture, non-recyclable paper, heavy metal cable, styrofoam, pizza boxes, broken toys, and other household items.

MAKING YOUR VISIT EASIER

  • Residents with trailers of trash or self-haul yard waste should pass through the scales. There is no charge for these items and it improves traffic flow on busy days.
  • Refrigerators and Freezers - please remove the doors from these items.
  • Pack your items reverse of how you will unload:

Back of Trunk or Truck Bed (last to be unloaded)

  • Metal
  • Residential Trash
  • Tires
  • Electronics
  • Auto Batteries, Oil and Antifreeze
  • Reusable Building Materials
  • Clothing and Textiles
  • Foam (styrofoam goes with trash)

Front of Trunk or Truck Bed (unload these first)

  • Cardboard
  • Rigid Plastic
  • "All Together" Recycling
  • Asphalt Shingles
  • Household Hazardous Waste (Saturdays ONLY during collection season)

Truck landfill

We ask that you take a few minutes to SORT your trash, since much of the household trash you bring may be recycled or reused by placing it in one of the many recycling containers or trailers at the Center.

Remember, one person can make a difference!
