GLASS RECYCLING

     

DID YOU KNOW...
glass is recycled and made into new containers or used as glasphalt to pave roads?


GENERAL RECYCLING TIPS

  • Empty contents.
  • Rinse lightly.
  • Remove lids. Label and ring may stay on.
  • Place glass bottles and jars with mixed paper, plastic bottles and cans in plastic see through bags or open top recycling bins.


CURBSIDE COLLECTION

Once a week curbside collection of unlimited amounts of GLASS bottles and jars is provided to residents living in single family homes and most townhomes and trailer parks in Howard County. An on site, drop off program is available to apartments, condominums and other multi-family homes that use dumpsters for trash. Check with your resident manager or management office for details on how to bring recycling to your community. Howard County can provide recycling containers to apartments and condominiums if requested by the management.

NO we can't accept...

  • window glass
  • drinking glasses
  • mirrors
  • ceramics
  • crystal
  • fluorescent or light bulbs
  • CorningWare, or Pyrex

HOW TO prepare glass for curbside collection...

Place in see through, plastic bag or open top recycling bin with recyclable mixed paper, cans and plastic bottles.


Inclement Weather

During inclement weather, every effort will be made to continue to provide for scheduled collections. If collections are cancelled due to snow, ice, or other severe weather, pick-up will be made the following week on your scheduled recycling day, if possible, or when road conditions permit. Call 410-313-6444 for cancellation and makeup information.


Holidays

Recycling collections are not made on the following six (6) holidays:

  • New Year's Day **
  • Memorial Day *
  • Independence Day *
  • Labor Day *
  • Thanksgiving Day *
  • Christmas Day **

* If your regular recycling day falls on one of these days, collections will be made the following week on your scheduled recycling day.

** If your regular recycling day falls on one of these days, collections will be made on the following day. When either of these holidays falls on Saturday or Sunday, collections will be made the following Monday.


DROP OFF LOCATION

You can also recycle GLASS as well as many other recyclables at our convenient ALPHA RIDGE LANDFILL RESIDENTS' CONVENIENCE CENTER
Hours: Monday through Saturday from 8 am - 4 pm.


PLEASE remember your 4's

when placing recyclables and trash
out for collection...

  • UNLIMITED RECYCLABLES
    (however, 4 item per week limit for TRASH.)
  • Each item under 40 pounds.
  • Each item less than 4 feet long.
  • Put out beFORE 6 a.m
