Howard County residents can dispose of trash and recycling items at the Alpha Ridge Landfill. Residents using the landfill are required to show their driver's licenses as proof of residence in Howard County each time they enter. NEW! Residential Used Cooking Oil Collection Program at Alpha Ridge Landfill. For details click here. NOTE: Residents disposing of construction, demolition, and home improvement waste will be charged the commercial tipping fee ($65/ton). This includes deliveries mixed with household waste. The landfill entrance is on the left. Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off: for information, click here: Household Hazardous Waste LANDFILL USE - RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL Residents using the landfill are required to show their drivers licenses as proof of residency in Howard County each time they enter the landfill. For special exceptions, click here: Residential Special Exception For COMMERCIAL Permits, click here for the application: Please follow the directions on the application for payment. LANDFILL RECYCLING CENTER The recycling center at the Alpha Ridge Landfill (410-313-6444) accepts metal cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, mixed paper, cardboard, usable building materials, oil, antifreeze, automobile batteries, scrap metal, tires, propane tanks, latex paint, roof shingles, polyurethane foam, old clothing and textiles, electronic equipment including computer monitors and TV's, and Christmas trees. Residents with brush or wood waste will be directed to the yard waste drop-off site. RECYCLING: for information, click here: Recycling LANDFILL REFUSE AREA The residents' convenience refuse area at the Alpha Ridge Landfill (410-313-6444) accepts general, unrecyclable household trash excluding hazardous, medical and liquid waste. NOTE: Residents disposing of construction and demolition material (C&D waste) will be directed to weigh in at the scalehouse and will be charged $3.25 per 100 pounds of waste. RESIDENTIAL TRASH: For information, click here: Residential Trash PROHIBITED ITEMS COMMUNITY CLEANUP Communities can call Environmental Services (410-313-6444) to request a reservation form to complete for delivery of a dumpster for a specified site for a weekend community clean up. The limit is twice yearly; there is no fee. |
