gingerbread manA STORYBOOK TALE...Howard County's Enchanted Forest, one of the country first theme parks, closed in 1987. Through the efforts of local community activists the characters are being brought back to life on a nearby farm. See why the park attracted thousands of tourists to Howard County each summer.

CIVIL WAR TRAILS...Many historic sites are located in Howard County. Local, state and national governments work to preserve these sites so future generations can learn more about the places and events that shaped their community. Many of these site have been restored through cooperative efforts led by the Department of Recreation and Parks. During the Civil War, Ellicott City and other sites around the County played host to troops from both the North and South. Follow this map to see where their trails may have led and the sites you can still visit today.
