Electrical Licenses
Howard County licenses Master General, Master Restricted and Master Limited Electricians. All licenses are for a two-year period.

Currently, the Master General Electrician license period is from November 30, 2005 through November 30, 2007.
The Master Restricted and Master Limited Electrician license period is from November 30, 2006 through November 30, 2008.
Following are the licensing renewal instructions for both the Master Restricted and Master Limited Electrician licenses.
RENEWAL INSTRUCTIONS – MASTER LIMITED AND RESTRICTED LICENSE HOLDERS
FILING DEADLINE
Renewals must be postmarked by November 30, 2006, or your license will be classified as expired. If a license expires because of failure to renew, the license may be restored within a 90 day period after expiration (by February 28, 2007) upon payment of a $50 restoration fee plus the appropriate license fee ($88 for Master Limited for a total of $138 and $110 for Master Restricted License for a total of $160). Payment in the form of a check or money order is made payable to “Director of Finance, Howard County.”
HOWARD COUNTY INSURANCE CERTIFICATE
The Required Howard County Insurance Certificate form can be downloaded by clicking here.
This is the only Insurance Certificate format that will be accepted and is required to be submitted along with the license renewal cards and fee. If you represent a firm, both the company name and your name, along with a complete address, must be on the Certificate of Insurance. Mail the complete renewal package to:

MASTER LIMITED OR RESTRICTED (ACTIVE)
To ensure that you receive your 2006/2008 license prior to the November 30 expiration of your present license, submit the following prior to November 1, 2006 to allow time for processing:
- Completed and signed “License Renewal Cards,”FRONT AND BACK.
BOTH cards must be returned to this office. - 2006/2008 License RENEWAL FEE - $88 – MASTER LIMITED or
- 2006/2008 License RENEWAL FEE - $110 – MASTER RESTRICTED
Make check or money order payable to “Director of Finance, Howard County.” - A Certificate of Insurance.
MASTER LIMITED OR RESTRICTED (INACTIVE)
To ensure that you receive your 2006/2008 license prior to the November 30 expiration, submit the following prior to November 1, 2006, to allow for processing:

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
If you wish to ACTIVATE your inactive license, you must put your request in writing advising us to place your license on the “Active” Status and return together with the $88 or $110 renewal fee, License Renewal Cards and a Certificate of Insurance showing proof of required insurance. If you wish to place your active license on the “inactive” status, you must put your request in writing advising us to do so and return with the $88 or $110 renewal fee and License Renewal Cards.
If you wish to CHANGE either your company name or firm affiliation, you must submit a written statement requesting the change. Return statement with a Certificate of Insurance showing the new firm name, the License Renewal Cards and license fee of $88 or $110 and a $25 reassignment fee ($113 or $135 total), with a check or money order payable to “Director of Finance, Howard County.”
MAILING INFORMATION
We request that you submit your renewal prior to November 1, 2006, to ensure that it will be processed and returned to you by December 1, 2006.
Please notify this office of any changes in address, etc. that may occur during this license period to ensure receipt of licensing, electrical fees and/or other pertinent information regarding the electrical industry in Howard County.
