INSPECTIONS DIVISION

Welcome to the Inspections Division of the Department of Inspections, Licensing and Permits. We are located within the Thomas B. Dorsey Building, 9250 Bendix Road, Columbia, MD 21045. We can be reached at (410) 313-1823.

Our inspectors are available between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. each morning. With the exception of Plumbing Express Permits, all inspections must be requested through the Automated Inspection Request System at (410) 313-3800. Inspection Type Codes are needed for each inspection requested, and can be found here.

The Inspection and Enforcement Division provides all inspections for compliance with construction standards on private property except grading and sediment control, wells and septic systems. For questions about grading and sediment control, contact the Construction Inspection Division of the Department of Public Works at 410-313-1855. For questions related to wells or septic systems, contact the Health Department at 410-313-2640.
