COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)

The Community Development Block Grant Program provides funding from the Federal Government to be used to serve low and moderate income individuals.

Each year the County is awarded approximately $1.1 Million. Non-profit organizations submit proposals to the County during the December - January time frame to be evaluated and included in our Annual Plan. The Annual Plan is submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for approval during the middle of May and the funding is awarded around July 1st of each year.

Programs which meet the national objective of serving low and moderate income persons and the local focus of helping to become self-sufficient are included in this Plan. Past Programs include:

    Employment Connection – Job search and job training assistance.

    Child Care Training – becoming a family child care provider or Center staff.

    CNA/GNA to LPN training – obtaining a career in the Health field.

    Home Accessibility/Repairs – Repair assistance for elderly and disabled.

    ACTION after school program – Youth homework club.

    Personal Assistance – Personal Assistance Services for elderly and disabled.

    Settlement Downpayment Loan Program – Assistance with settlement.

    Rehabilitation Loan Program – Low interest loans to be made available for income eligible home owners.
