HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS(HOME)GRANT

The HOME Program helps to expand the supply of decent, affordable housing for low and very low-income families by providing grants to States and local governments referred to as participating jurisdictions or "PJs." PJs use their HOME Grants to fund housing programs that meet local needs and priorities. Howard County became a HOME Entitlement Jurisdiction, July 2003. Listed below are some of the HOME activities.

Acquisition of land to build affordable housing

Acquisition – Rehab. To purchase rental properties, rehabilitate them and offer them for sale to income eligible clients.

Home Ownership assistance – second mortgages to assist first time home buyers.

Rehabilitation – low interest loans to be made available for income eligible home owners rehabilitation.
