Joppa Road #1103 Abilities Network is a coalition of agencies serving people with disabilities, all dedicated to assisting individuals of all abilities and their families in achieving their personal goals and reaching their maximum potential. Services are tailored to support each person to live, work, socialize and to encourage the highest level of participation of each individual in his/her community. AIDS ALLIANCE OF HOWARD COUNTY 8492 Baltimore National Pike, Suite 103 The AIDS Alliance of Howard County facilitates the coordination of programs and services for people with AIDS related complex or HIV infection who live and/or work in Howard County. ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION-CENTRAL MD CHAPTER 1850 York Road, Suite D Provides supportive services for persons with dementia and their caregivers. 1393 Progress Way Education services and supports programs are available for patients, families, organizations, schools and professionals. All services and programs are free of charge when needed. AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION, MD AFFILIATE 800 Wyman Park Drive Provides educational programs, literature and advocacy opportunities for people with diabetes. Sponsors a summer camping program for children with diabetes and funds diabetes research. AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION OF MD Executive Plaza I Provides information on various health topics such as tobacco cessation, asthma, lung cancer, emphysema, sarcoidosis and indoor and outdoor clean air. Call the Call Center at 1-800-548-8252 to get referrals and to ask general questions about lung health issues and medications.
ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION, MD CHAPTER 9505 Reisterstown Road, Suite 1 North Programs, educational opportunities and materials for patients, family members and health professionals are provided. ASTHMA & ALLERGY FOUNDATION OF AMERICA, MD CHAPTER 1777 Reisterstown Road, Suite 290 Provides education, patient services/assistance support and camp scholarships. Dedicated to serving asthma/allergy sufferers in the management and control of their disease.
1-800-4-CANCER Toll free telephone inquiry system responding to any questions regarding cancer including treatment, rehabilitation, and requests for referrals to community agencies. Participates in community education programs and provides written materials. CLAUDIA MAYER CANCER RESOURCE AND IMAGE CENTER 5900 Cedar Lane, Suite 2 The Claudia Mayer Cancer and Resource Image Center is a community outreach program of Howard County General Hospital. The Center includes a resource and lending library, free booklets and pamphlets, our website, Internet access and videos to provide information on a broad scope of cancer related subjects. Licensed estheticians, prostheses professionals and hair stylists provide free consultations and assist with care. A variety of hair and skin care products are available, as well as wigs, turbans, prostheses, camouflage and corrective make-up. Call for hours of operation. CROHN’S & COLITIS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA, INC., MD/S. DEL CHAPTER 1107 Kenilworth Drive, Suite 320 Devotes contributions to research and supports vital education programs for families, individuals and physicians to benefit the two million Americans with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION, MD CHAPTER 10616 Beaver Dam Road, Suite S-6 Funds research to fund a cure and control Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and to improve the quality of life for those suffering with the disease. CF is a disease that attacks mainly the lungs and digestive system. EASTER SEALS 4041 Powder Mill Road, Suite 100 Easter Seals serves individuals with disabilities through day programs, home-based occupational, physical, speech and low vision therapy.
EPILEPSY FOUNDATION OF THE CHESAPEAKE REGION 8503 LaSalle Road Since 1964, EFCR has worked to improve the quality of life for individuals with seizure disorders through hands-on, individualized services. Services include information and referral, public and professional education services as well as support groups and informational sessions.
10772 Hickory Ridge Road The Health Alliance is a coalition of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and allied health professionals who volunteer their time to provide care for the uninsured. Patients are seen by appointment in a clinic setting. To become a patient of the Health Alliance, persons must be medically uninsured adults, reside in Howard County, suffer from a chronic illness and have an annual income, which does not exceed 200% of the Federal Government Poverty Guidelines. HOWARD COUNTY GENERAL HOSPITAL (HCGH) 5755 Cedar Lane HCGH provides a full range of medical and surgical diagnostics and treatments, as well as a comprehensive health education program. Physicians in 33 clinical specialties and sub- specialties provide a wide array of care including women’s and children’s services, internal medicine, orthopedics, cardiology, surgery, oncology, gerontology, psychiatry and emergency care. As a member of the Johns Hopkins Medicine, HCGH provides local access to certain speciality services not previously available in Howard County. The Hospital provides Physician Referral Service to assist residents in finding physicians that can meet their unique needs.
