The Office of Consumer Affairs, an enforcement agency with subpoena power, investigates and conciliates complaints regarding deceptive and unfair trade practices.

The offices issues Solicitor and Peddlers licenses required for door-to-door or side of the road sales and registers individuals or companies towing vehicles from private lots in compliance with the Trespass Tow Statue.

The Consumer Affairs Advisory Board is composed of seven members, nominated by the County Executive and appointed by the County Council. The Consumer Affairs Advisory Board advises the Office of Consumer Affairs in the carrying out its duties and may hold public hearings as deemed necessary.
