The Department of Citizen Services is dedicated to high quality, comprehensive human service delivery for individuals and families. While the Department of Citizen Services specializes in services for senior citizens, youth, people with disabilities, women, homeless, people seeking consumer protection and others who need assistance, Citizen Services promotes a community wide focus. Citizen Services develops partnerships with advisory boards and community groups and provides citizens direct assistance, planning, education and training, enforcement of certain county laws and management of community service grants to non-profit human service agencies.

To accomplish its goals, Citizen Services consists of the Office on Aging and Office of Consumer Affairs. Two special service areas under Citizen Services Administration provide Children's Services and Disabilities Services.

Staff members work to plan, develop and deliver human services to the citizens of Howard County.
