Don't trash those good items! There are many opportunities for useable building supplies. Here are some locations to check out:

The Alpha Ridge Landfill

The Loading Dock at ARL collects new and reusable building materials.

Items Accepted: banisters, bathtubs, cabinets, counter tops, doors, hardware, lighting fixtures, lumber, molding, plumbing fixtures, shelving, stairs, toilets, windows and other building materials.

For a tax receipt, please bring reusable material the 1st Saturday of each month 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

NOTE: Howard County and the Loading Dock reserve the right to refuse any materials deemed unfit. If you have any questions about what is acceptable, please call THE LOADING DOCK at (410) 558-3625.

Don't have reusable items? Residents disposing of construction, demolition and home improvement material as trash will be directed to weigh in at the scalehouse and will be charged $65/ton ($3.25 per 100 pounds) of waste. This includes deliveries mixed with household waste.

Waste Management Bagster Program


If you want to get rid of your construction & demolition debris on-site, consider the Bagster, a flexible 'dumpster' service provided by Waste Management. Purchase a Bagster from your local home improvement store, fill the bag with material and contact Waste Management for pick-up. Visit Waste Management's Bagster website for more details.
