Community Programs / Work Release

The major focus of Community Programs is the Work Release program which provides a transition into the workforce for inmates in preparation for their eventual release from confinement. One supervisor and two correctional specialists staff Community Programs.

An important component of this program is the revenue and cost savings it provides to the county. Inmates participating in the Work Release Program pay the county $12.00 per day for room and board.

The Work Release program permits court ordered and/or approved inmates to maintain gainful employment in the community while serving their sentences. An inmate’s placement in this program may be ordered directly by the courts or may be at the recommendation of the Detention Center. Personnel in the Work Release Section ensure that the Departmental policies and procedures, and rules and regulations of the Work Release Program are strictly adhered to. Staff members closely supervise inmates participating in this program.
