About the KWANZAN CHERRY TREE...
The showiest of all cherry trees, the Kwanzan Cherry tree, bursts with large, fluffy, pink blossoms resembling mini-carnations in late April. The tree's scientific name is "prunus serrulata" in the family "rosaceae." It has what is considered a "medium" growth rate and offers outstanding ornamental features. The Kwanzan is a relatively small tree that reaches approximately 20 feet in height with a 20 foot spread at maturity. The Kwanzan cherry has the longest lasting blooms of all the flowering cherries, and is also considered one of the hardiest. In addition to the profuse blossoms of spring, second seasonal display of color comes in autumn when the tree's dark green leaves turn a beautiful copper-orange. Equally at home in parking lot islands, on wide tree lawns, or near a deck or patio, the Kwanzan's size and hardiness makes it the perfect choice for a wide varity of uses! Chances are there is a perfect spot in your landscaping plan for a BLOSSOMS OF HOPE cherry tree! |
