This office is established as part of the legislative branch of County Government to perform appraisals of activity within County Government organizations. We help to insure that the County Council has the information to make decisions that are efficient, cost effective, and provide the best level of service to the public. At the request of the County Council, we review legislation proposed for its fiscal impact on County services. We perform audits of County agencies, and manage contracted external audits required by the County Charter, the State and other agencies. The Office of the County Auditor provides an independent review of the effectiveness and efficiency of County departments' operating controls, as well as their compliance to related laws and regulations. Since the Office of the County Auditor is part of the legislative branch of the government, we are able to provide independent review of the executive branch departments and their activities. It is this independence that allows our office to perform State required audits, such as an annual 911 funding certification, 508 Fire funding certification, and the Agricultural Land Preservation annual report. The County Auditor's position is appointed by the County Council. Who we are (Organizational Chart and Auditor's Office Staff) Read the Charter for the Office of the County Auditor |
